Suzuki Swift Sport Review

suzuki-swift-s-concept-1-e1299019963466-625x440.jpgImproving refinement in a car can be a tricky task. If you do too much of it, the car starts to lose its character but if you do too little then you may have trouble selling the car. Taking that into consideration, the new Suzuki Swift Sport has pulled a masterstroke. Some people think the new Swift as a sedate small car or a mini 4x4 driven by the over 50’s who want a bullet proof reliability. Compared to the normal Swift, the Swift Sport definitely lives up to its name. It loves to be driven hard and will propel you from 0-60mpg in only 8.7 seconds onto a top speed of 121mph. Ok, it’s not that swift but once you get into that car and start that engine, you’ll have a smile on your face.

Suzuki has been racing competitively in the rally scene for a long time and their expertise has been put into motion with the Swift Sport. The car has excellent handling, and superb cornering grip. The suspension and springs have been tightened for a sportier edge but this doesn’t compromise comfortably. For a 1.6 litre engine and 6 speed gear box, it loves to be thrashed which adds to the fun factor.

Not only is it fun to drive, it looks the part. The Swift Sport has been lowered with a deeper front grille, 17in alloys, twin tail pipes, and striking spotlights. Could it be a head turner? The engine has been tuned for improved motorway driving but it does get buzzy on a long run.

Suzuki is looking to shift only 1,000 models a year which is modest compared to their standard Suzuki Swift. At only £13,500 the Suzuki Swift Sport offers a value for money package compared to rival models.
