Ford’s new Tourneo Custom will be arriving on the forecourts at the beginning of 2018, and it signals a new era in combining the comfort and driveability of a car with the spaciousness of a van or minibus.
Whether you are a business that needs to shuttle teams of executives from point to point in comfort and luxury, a large family that needs space for all the kids and their equipment, or you just have lots of friends and love to fulfil the dedicated driver role, the new Tourneo ticks all the boxes.
Ford’s 2018 Tourneo Custom is bigger and better than ever. Its rear seating can accommodate six passengers in a choice of arrangements, including a unique “conference style” format, whereby the second row is facing backwards. Ideal for an impromptu board meeting on the go, or perhaps a family game of cards! As Ford Europe’s Vehicle Lines Director, Pete Reyes, put it: "With the new Tourneo Custom, every passenger can enjoy the best seat in the house.”
The comfort is not just reserved for the backseat passengers, however. The dashboard and instrumentation are based on the innovative design features of the all new Fiesta and features Ford’s SYNC 3 tablet-style touchscreen system to access a range of information, entertainment and controls. It can even be hooked up to the FordPass mobile app for complete IoT-based control.
With built-in compatibility software for Apple and Android devices, you can even access various mobile phone apps on the go. The live traffic system keeps you one step ahead of congestion and is full of other handy information to help you find filling stations, food outlets and other useful facilities if you are in unfamiliar surroundings.
The Tourneo will be powered by Ford’s astonishing BlueLine diesel engine, which has already done so much to prove to the world that diesel technology can be clean and efficient, while still providing great performance. There will be a variety of power output options available, so whether you plan to be thundering up and down the motorways or making shorter trips across town, there will be the ideal variant to meet your needs.
The power will be delivered to the wheels by Ford’s smooth six-speed automatic gearbox, and to keep those backseat passengers as comfortable as possible, there is a completely new rear air suspension system.
From the moment you walk up to it, you can see that the 2018 Ford Tourneo is something out of the ordinary. The completely redesigned front end takes many styling cues from the passenger range, with a trapezoidal grille and high, slim headlights. The family resemblance with the Fiesta and Focus is clear to see.
The new Ford Tourneo Custom will go on sale at the beginning of 2018, but you can find out more or express an interest by contacting a member of the team at SMC Ford.
