New Ford Edge revealed at 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show

Scheduled to arrive in showrooms at the start of 2016, the second-generation Ford Edge is set to impress. Ford’s new premium SUV debuted at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, with the full European specification on show for the first time. Built on Ford’s versatile Mondeo platform, the Edge will target the lucrative crossover market alongside its two siblings: the Kuga and Ecosport.

The latest Ford Edge is positioned as more affordable than its nearest rivals. It also offers class-leading space to create fantastic practicality. The five-seat interior is unrivalled in terms of comfort and space, and the central console and dashboard take inspiration from the Mondeo’s quality layout. Improved insulation works together with the Active Noise Cancellation to keep passengers relaxed.

The new exterior styling of the Edge features rugged bodywork to enhance the SUV’s assertive road presence, and the clamshell bonnet is an attractive styling cue. A huge chrome-barred grille – flanked by sophisticated LED headlights – adds more impact to the model’s impressive visual identity.

Power will come courtesy of a pair of 2.0-litre Duratorque TDCi diesel engines. The entry-level unit generates 188bhp and 400Nm of torque, working together with a six-speed manual transmission to overcome obstacles with ease. The larger version produces 207bhp and 450Nm of torque, and is coupled with a seamless six-speed automatic gearbox.
