Suzuki Baleno

Suzuki Baleno makes a comeback at the Frankfurt Motor Show

Suzuki has resurrected a name from its past to breathe new life into the competitive hatchback market. The new Suzuki Baleno is scheduled for release in the summer of 2016, and first impressions are of a supermini full of character and colour.

Designed to compete with established rivals such as the Volkswagen Polo and Ford Fiesta, the new Baleno is geared towards buyers looking for the style of the Swift with increased flexibility. The vehicle supplies an exceptional loading area of 355 litres – 70 litres more than its nearest rivals – and generous passenger space.

The bodywork features LED daytime running lights have been incorporated as part of the car’s distinctive look. Underneath the refreshed style, the interior space is roomy, smart and comfortable. As well as the high seating position, owners will benefit from a seven-inch colour touchscreen (likely to be available at higher trims) and an LCD display on the instrument panel.

The Baleno will arrive with two engine choices, with the entry-level 1.2-litre unit generating 89bhp and using stop/start technology to increase fuel economy. A larger 1.0-litre three-cylinder option is capable of producing 110bhp, while only emitting 103g/km of CO2. The entry-level model will cut that figure 101g/km of CO2. With a choice of five-speed manual and six-speed automatic transmissions, the Baleno will create smooth, well-balanced and enjoyable motoring.
