The Suzuki Ignis was relaunched in 2016 after having been out of production for over a decade. The new edition has moved on a long way from its predecessor, and is now an agile large city car with a crossover styling. The chunky design, chrome-trimmed grille and large front lights with LED running lights give a bold look to the Ignis, complemented by body cladding and functional roofbars on the SZ-T model. The upright design with high roof provides plenty of headroom, even if you have tall passengers in the rear.
There are three trim options: SZ3, SZ-T and SZ5. As you would expect from Suzuki, you get a lot of equipment for your money. Climate control and a DAB radio are fitted as standard, while Bluetooth® connectivity and sat nav are added in the SZ-T edition, which also features emergency brake assist technology. If you opt for the SZ5 you will also get keyless entry and start, as well as a reversing camera for easier parking. The dual-tone dashboard adds a contemporary look to the comfortable cabin, with touches of coordinating colour on the door pulls and the centre console.
The Ignis is available with either a standard 1.2-litre petrol engine or a mild hybrid SHVS edition, which uses a lithium ion battery to enhance fuel economy and reduce CO2 emissions. The standard engine returns 61.4mpg, with 104g/km CO2 emissions, while the mild hybrid version increases fuel economy to 65.7mpg and brings emissions down to 97g/km, although these efficiencies are reduced if you have a four-wheel drive edition. Most models are fitted with a five-speed manual gearbox, but some vehicles are available with automatic transmission.
